pizza mediteraneo

who doesn’t love Pizza? Honestly! Especially when it is a buy one get one free in over 25 select restaurants and not the Tuesday offer we are used to? I was pretty excited when Eat out Kenya announced the inaugural Pizza Festival and I vowed to try out places i haven’t visited before.

Lucky or unlucky for me, my waistline and pocket were at loggerheads, so I only visited two restaurants. My second option shall not be reviewed since the pizza was nothing to write home about.

I choose to visit Mediterraneo 9 West since I work in Westlands and I haven’t been there previously. My date and I choose the perfect timing just before dinner revellers started streaming in. It was the first day of the event so we were sure our pizza would be good.  The welcoming interiors of the restaurant are very inviting and we choose to sit outside at the balcony. Wrong choice for me thanks to the noisy matatus just across to where we were sitting.

Carlsberg is not my beer of choice and wine or cocktails weren’t any of my options so i decided to have coffee with my pizza. Just when I was scheming the menu for coffee options instead of my good old latte, I spot a freebie coffee on the menu. Glee!

All I needed to do was check into Mediterraneo on Facebook, show our waiter the post on my Fb and he serves me my free coffee. WIN! You don’t need to be a coffee connoisseur to know that this coffee is REALLY good!

THE FOOD

My date choose the Pescatore Pizza with tomato, prawns, calamari, fish fillet, garlic, parsley toppings…..Yummmy!!!! If you are not a fan of Prawns and Calamari this is definitely not the Pizza for you.

Doesn’t this Pescatore Pizza look delish?

I had the Terra and Mare which was the best for the night. It had tomato, mozzarella, chicken, prawns and mushrooms my date almost ate all my slices as he found his too salty.

The Price

Two heavenly Pizzas for the price of one is definitely a treat on a budget. The pizza was Sh1350 and a Carlsberg was Sh350. Our total for the hearty meal came to Sh1700.

Would i go back? Yes, I would definitely love to sample their different pasta and seafood specialities.

Till the next treat!
